Max's Steakhouse opened in downtown Columbus, OH in 1949 with red vinyl booths and .69 cent martinis. In its hey day, a young Larry Flynt held court at the bar. Max's was my family's legacy" says Jules Shell, grandaughter of proprietor Max Shell. "When I was in my late 20's my great Uncle Sam revealed the family secret – adjacent to Max's was a topless go-go bar called the Boo-B-Trap which apparently my grandfather also owned and nobody ever talked about."
